Memorial Service to commemorate the 269th anniversary of the Battle of Culloden
Chief Hector and Secretary Walter attended a memorial service to commemorate the 269th anniversary of the Battle of Culloden. The battle, fought in April 1746 between the Jacobite army of Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Hanovarian Government army, ended the Stuart ambitions to be restored to the throne of Great Britain.
Hector laid a Scots Pine branch, as one of the MacAulay emblems, to commemorate the fallen at the battle on behalf of the Clan.
There were around 500 people attending the moving service in Gaelic and English, where Gaelic Psalms were sung.
